Nominated by previous winners Weatherhead High School, a local secondary academy also in Wallasey, representatives from Liscard Primary picked up their award at the annual WCSQM Awards Ceremony, hosted at Cambridge University by Lady Mitchell Hall.

The awards celebrate schools who have gone beyond ‘Outstanding’, as well as individual students from World Class schools across the UK, in recognition of their outstanding achievements in 2019.

Liscard Primary was rigorously inspected by judges over the last few months who were looking for non-selective state schools which offer the best education to young people.

Liscard Primary pupil Aminah Chowdhury, aged 10, bravely delivered a presentation at the prestigious venue to more than 500 people –  where greats such as Stephen Hawking, Yoko Ono and John Lennon have previously appeared.

Rose Littler, Head of Liscard Primary said: “To gain this recognition is a real credit to our extremely talented children.

“It is a reflection of the hard work, commitment and dedication of all the staff who create a happy, caring and aspirational learning environment where our children are encouraged to develop ambitions, believe in themselves and strive to achieve their best in all they do.

“It is an absolute honour to be accredited the World Class Quality Mark. I am so proud of the school and our wonderful children.”

Now in its sixth year of accreditation, WCSQM has awarded World Class Status to only seven other primary schools this year from around the country.

Miranda Perry, Director of WCSQM said: “WCSQM is a charity created for and driven by World Class students.

“Our assessment process is very much student-led and student-centric, and this year we were once again amazed by the tenacity, drive and work-readiness exhibited by the students of these applicant schools.

“They were a credit to their schools and a testament to the truly World Class education provision they offer.”
