Delifonseca has a sweet treat in store to celebrate honey month
Delifonseca is set to mark Honey Month by hosting an afternoon with Liverpool-based Bee Shack, complete with an observation hive, on Saturday, September 29.
Customers keen to get a behind-the-scenes look at how the local postcode-orientated honey is produced will be treated to an informative tasting event at the Dockside venue from Bee Shack’s founder Martin Swift.
Visitors will learn everything there is to know about honey from the harvesting process to the different flavours and varieties on the market whilst getting up close and personal with the hive itself.
Proprietor of Delifonseca Candice Fonseca said: “With lots of amazing jams and spreads on the shelves honey is often overlooked. However, in my mind honey is an unsung hero, not only is it delicious straight up, versatile as an ingredient and topping but it also has great health properties and is fantastic for the environment.
“The role bees in local ecosystems has been proven to be crucial so stocking local honey means we are also looking after our region’s green spaces and gardens. The Bee Shack puts hives in all different areas of Liverpool, so as part of Honey Month we could think of no better way to celebrate than by inviting them back for a fascinating afternoon that centres around all things sticky and sweet.”
The foodie mecca is renowned in the Merseyside region for its use of quality ingredients and in line with this, the shelves of the venue will be fully stocked with an array of honey-based products.
Candice added: “After such a fantastic reception from Martin’s previous events here, we are excited to welcome him back to share the stories behind the products and flavours that we stock at our Dockside Food Hall. Our customers will be taken on a journey where they will learn some inside secrets on the art of bee-keeping and just how the sumptuously sticky goodness ends up on our shelves.”
Bee Shack’s observation hive and demo will take place between 11am and 3pm on Saturday, September 29 at Delifonseca Dockside.
