You don’t have to look like a movie star, but you can still look your best even if you have a new baby to tend to. Don’t forget who you were before baby. Here are six fashion tips for new mums.
What’s trending right now? We’re not sure, but it just might be you. Utilizing fashion tips is not about being on the forefront of fashion. That is for the runway models, designers and those who want to be identified as always on the cutting edge. When it comes to personal fashion sense, it is more a matter of maintaining a style throughout any season based on the looks that are popular.
Is that still clear as mud? Here’s an example. Let’s say that you are a modern type of mum. In the spring, you may have invested in high-low or asymmetric skirts. You like skirts, so for that season, you went with this look that flatters the legs and looks totally feminine. In the autumn, that style may translate into full length skirts (which are in fashion this autumn) in a variety of patterns.
Instead of letting fashion trends dictate your style, tweak your style choices when trends change. It’s much easier to stay fashionable this way especially as a busy mum. You know what you like already.
6 Fashion Tips for New Mum
Plan your wardrobe for each season – Before your shop, decide what you want to purchase. The key to keeping your look fresh is to buy a few choice pieces and mix and match them as needed. In the autumn and winter months, fewer outfits can do double duty while still looking amazing.
Invest in accessories – You can never have too many earrings, bracelets, necklaces, belts or shoes. The trick is to choose items that can be dressed up or down. For instance, always have a black pair of flats and heels in your wardrobe. Silver and gold jewellery never go out of style. Choose chandelier earrings, studs and hoops.
Jeans – A good pair of jeans is worth its weight in gold. They can be worn in all seasons and dressed up with a crisp blouse and heels or dressed casual with a pair of boots and a blazer.
Use your entire wardrobe – Mother always says to put away the summer clothing to make room for warmer stuff. Nonsense. On a not so cool day, wear that light wistful skirt with leggings and boots topped off with a cable sweater.
Go for the fit – No matter what size you are (we know you are working on losing that baby weight), it is better to go for a tasteful fitted look than the nondescript sweatshirt and jogging pants.
Try on everything – Always see how an outfit looks on you before you buy it. Ask the sales associate to help you pick out clothing that matches your style personality. Once you know your sizes and styles, it is easier to get more of the same later on. When you see how good you look in the store, you’re already reaping the benefits of “retail therapy.”
